The body is joined with structural adhesive and self piercing rivets over a mixed structure of aluminum castings, extrusions and hot formed steel. That is excellent engineering and it is unforgiving of improvisation. Bonded outer panels are not pulled and skimmed, castings are not sectioned or heat straightened, and joining methods are not substituted for whatever a shop already owns.
It also means the decision tree is written down. Where a procedure says a component is replace only, that is the estimate, and no amount of skill changes it.

Aluminum has a hard temperature ceiling during repair. Heat that a steel panel shrugs off changes the properties of aluminum permanently, which is why controlled process matters more than technique on these bodies.
