This is the department where the money goes into finding out rather than into taking apart. Four services sit here, and all four suffer from the same problem: the symptom an owner reports and the component that failed are usually in different places. A refrigerator that stops cooling can be a gas pressure problem. A generator that will not hold load can be a fuel problem. A wet cabinet can be a fitting three feet away.

Electrical repair covers 12 volt house circuits, 120 volt shore circuits, house battery banks and charge paths, rooftop solar and controllers, inverters and converters, and harness and distribution panel work. Generator repair covers scheduled service, overhaul of the head and engine, and installation of a new set with its compartment and exhaust routing.
Plumbing repair covers fresh water lines and pumps, black and gray tanks, water heaters, fixtures and pans, and pumps and valves. Appliance repair covers absorption and compressor refrigeration, ranges and cooktops, microwaves, rooftop air conditioning and furnaces or hydronic heat. Any of the four is a reasonable place to start, and intake will move a job if the symptom points elsewhere.

Any gas joint this department disturbs is leak tested electronically and verified with a manometer before the unit leaves, and every gas appliance that runs indoors is checked with a combustion analyzer and a carbon monoxide monitor. That is not an optional line on the estimate. It is the last step of the job.

The credit is simple and worth stating plainly. Whatever you pay for diagnosis or for a written estimate comes off the authorized repair in full. What it does not do is disappear if you decide not to proceed, because the work was done and the answer was delivered. That is the honest version of how a paid diagnosis works.
Where systems work hands over to the body side
Water is the usual crossover. A plumbing leak found here will very often have already damaged a subfloor, and that repair belongs to the finish shop. A roof penetration for a new solar array or a replacement rooftop air conditioner involves the roof department for the sealing detail. A generator compartment with cracked mounts is a fabrication job even though the set is a systems item.
There is also a boundary we do not cross. Chassis engine, transmission and brake work goes to a chassis specialist, and factory sealed appliance assemblies, fire suppression systems and certified medical or refrigeration equipment go back to their own providers.
