Owners ask two questions on the phone before any others. Will it fit, and can you paint the whole thing at once. Both are questions about a room rather than about a technician, and both have the same answer here, which is why the room is worth describing precisely.

What follows is a walk through the building in the order a damaged unit moves through it. Where a piece of equipment sets a real limit, the limit is stated rather than glossed over.

The building and how a unit gets in

The floor covers thirty five thousand square feet, which sounds like an abstraction until you try to turn a forty foot fifth wheel inside a conventional body shop. Space is not luxury in this trade, it is billable hours: a unit that has to be shunted twice to reach a bay burns labor nobody charges for, and a unit parked where a technician cannot walk both sides of it gets inspected badly.

Bay doors are sixteen feet, which is the dimension that decides whether a roof mounted air conditioner, a satellite dome or a raised luggage rack clears without anybody removing it first. Removing roof furniture to get a unit indoors is not a small job, and doing it twice is how a two week repair becomes three.

The booth, and why length matters more than anything

Refinish happens in a downdraft booth that runs sixty feet, and that single number is the difference between a repaint and a visible repair. A coach sprayed in two halves has a join, and a join in fresh clear coat on a flat sidewall shows in raking light for the rest of the vehicle's life. Length means the whole unit goes in once, gets masked once and cures once.

Downdraft matters for a second reason, which is contamination. Air pulled down and out through the floor carries overspray and dust away from a horizontal surface instead of across it, and a coach roof and cap are almost all horizontal surface. Coating handling, filtration and disposal on that side of the building fall under EPA CAL000367879, which is also part of why refinish work cannot happen in a driveway.

The structural side of the floor

Structure is verified before anything cosmetic happens, and verification means a printed comparison against published dimensions rather than a technician sighting down a panel. The rack anchors a vehicle so a pull acts on the damaged member instead of dragging the whole unit sideways, and the fixtures for a ladder frame under a towable are not the fixtures for a unibody Sprinter shell. The judgement this equipment supports is where damage stops. An impact at a rear corner travels along a rail, through body mounts and often into a slide opening two feet away. Measuring finds that. Looking does not, and a repair that skips the measurement produces panel gaps that will not hold and seal lines that leak in the second winter.

Systems, diagnostics and test equipment

The systems side of the floor exists because a recreational vehicle is two electrical systems, a propane system, fresh and waste water, and appliances that run on any of them. Equipment here is mostly measurement rather than muscle: meters, scan and programming tools, a manometer for LP pressure testing, and a water test rig for verifying a repair rather than hoping about it.

Diagnostic work bills at $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, credited in full against an authorized repair, because investigation is the work. Chasing an intermittent fault by replacing parts is the most expensive method available and it is the one an owner usually arrives having already tried twice somewhere else.

What the building cannot do

Capacity is not infinite and pretending otherwise wastes your time. Booth slots are finite, so a full repaint queues behind whatever is curing. Interior storage during a long parts wait is possible but not unlimited, and on a big backorder we will tell you honestly that the unit is better off at your storage lot until the shipment lands.

The other limit is the one this whole page implies. Because everything here is anchored to the floor, none of it comes to you. We do not send mobile teams and there is no roadside service, so a unit that cannot be driven arrives on a hook. Depending on your policy that tow may be a covered expense, which is worth asking your carrier before you pay for it.

Will a full length Class A coach fit inside the building?
Yes. The floor and the booth are both sized for full length coaches, and the bay doors are sixteen feet so roof mounted equipment clears without being stripped off first. Tandem axle fifth wheels, box trucks, transit buses and fire apparatus come indoors on the same basis.
What equipment do you have that an automotive body shop does not?
Three things mainly. A booth long enough to refinish a coach in one piece. Anchoring fixtures that fit a ladder frame under a towable rather than only unibody pinch welds. And LP plus house electrical test equipment, which no automotive shop needs and every recreational vehicle eventually does.
Can you refinish a whole coach without splitting the job in half?
Yes, and that is the entire argument for booth length. Spraying a long sidewall in two sessions leaves a join where the masking edges met, and on flat coach panels that join stays visible in low sun forever. One masking, one spray, one cure is the only way to avoid it.
Can my unit stay at the shop while parts are on backorder?
Sometimes, and it depends on how long the wait is and how much of the vehicle is open. A stripped unit stays indoors because it cannot weather. A unit waiting on a long backorder is often better off in your own storage lot, and we will say so rather than occupy a bay for six weeks.
What work cannot be done inside your building?
Engine internals and transmission rebuilds go to a chassis specialist. Tire mounting and wheel service are not this trade. And nothing at all happens away from the floor: the rack, the booth and the filtration are fixed installations, so there is no version of this work that travels to a campground or a driveway.
