Owners get told that one material or one system is better, usually by somebody selling it. In practice both options in each of these eight pairs exist because both make sense under different conditions, and the interesting question is never which is better in the abstract. It is which is better for the unit sitting in your driveway, at its age, given what you plan to do with it.

So each page here holds a table. Then a verdict, written to name both winners rather than one.

## How these tables are built

Criteria come off work orders. When we build a comparison we pull the jobs we have written on both options and look for the lines that differ, then keep the differences that change either the diagnosis or the hours. A row that says one option is more modern than the other tells you nothing you can act on. A row that says one option shows damage locally while the other spreads it three feet through a glue line tells you what to look for and what to budget.

Labor figures are real ranges from real jobs, expressed as hours in a named department, and never as a total. A total would require assuming your parts, your paint area and your condition, and inventing that number is how owners end up with an estimate that was wrong before anybody touched the unit. Rates are the posted rates: body and paint at $210 per hour, mechanical and electrical at $260.

## What a table cannot do for you

A comparison narrows the field. It cannot inspect your unit. The single most common way owners misuse this kind of page is reading that one path is generally cheaper and then assuming their damage falls on that path. Condition governs. A laminated wall with a dry core and a bounded release is a different job from a laminated wall with wet lauan behind it, and no table can tell those apart from where you are sitting.

So use the table to know which questions to ask and which measurements to take, then take them. Where a decision needs hands on the unit, each page says so and points at the guide that describes the test. Every measurement we make on your unit goes into a written scope, and that scope costs $150 which comes back off the invoice when the repair is authorized.

## Why there is no house favourite in any of these

We repair both sides of every pair on this list, at the same posted rates, in the same building. There is no version of this business where steering owners toward one material pays better. That is worth stating plainly, because comparison content on the open web is usually written by somebody who sells one of the two options, and the tells are easy to spot once you know them.

Where we do have an opinion, it is about condition rather than product. A ten year old TPO roof that has never been resealed is a worse bet than a fifteen year old EPDM roof that has. A cheap wall system maintained well outlasts an expensive one that sat under a leaking vent. Most of these tables end up saying some version of that, which is less exciting than a winner and considerably more useful.

## Questions and answers

### Do these comparison tables favour whichever repair is more profitable?

They should not, and the structure is designed to make bias visible. Both options in each pair are work we perform at the same posted department rates, and each verdict names a case where the option with fewer hours wins. If a table ever reads as one sided, the row that made it one sided is the row to question.

### Where do the labor hour ranges in the tables come from?

From work orders written on this floor for the same operation on both options. They are ranges rather than points because condition varies enormously, and they are hours rather than totals because parts, paint area and supplies differ on every unit. Multiply hours by the department rate to see the labor portion of a job.

### Can I use these pages to choose which RV to buy?

Partly. They will tell you how each construction type behaves when damaged and what maintenance keeps it healthy, which is genuinely useful shopping information. They will not tell you which brand is well built, because that varies by model year and plant. For a specific unit, an in shop inspection runs $400 to $1,200 depending on size and systems.
